Birth of a New Nation
Genghis Khan united the Steppe tribes of Eastern Asia, and moved on to bigger goals. But what he could have never imaged, was that although his dream of achieving complete rule over the world wash;t successful, the people that he united has become a country, now known as Mongolia.
The Mongolia of now has taken the transition of becoming a modern country, but unlike many countries, such as The People's Republic of China, they have preserved most of their traditional things, such as herding. By this, I mean that Mongolians don not do this as something fun to do once in a while, but something that they do as a job. Mongolia has also kept many other cultural things, such as living in gers and Yurts (Not some, but many Mongolians still live in these round houses.), and many men still ride horses as transportation. A Mongolian man once said, " “It is not possible to imagine Mongolian history without horses, and I think it is not possible to view the future of Mongolia without horses as well. Mongolia is not Mongolia without horses.” Still living with these traditional traits, Mongolians are a very unique cultural. If Genghis Khan was still alive, I would think that he would be proud.

Some cities in modern Mongolia have turned urban (left), while many herders still remain rural and traditional (right).
