War Machines
Genghis Khan was a very intelligent man, who knew his own weaknesses. He understood that his mongol horde were very brave, but they were only good as fighters on great plain, where their horses could be of effect. But, against most great cities, there would be many walls and towers in their way. So, the Great Khan made a decision that changed the Mongols' fate: he trained his warriors to use siege warfare. To accomplish this, he took many steps. First, when attacked more nations, and gave the order that all blacksmiths, carpenters, builders, etc. were to be kept alive. By combining the knowledge of these captives, he made them help him build big war machines. These included trebuchets, giant crossbows, and early rockets(created by the Chinese). By using this strategy of attacking taking the builders captive, then making new siege weapons, Genghis Khan was able to make the mongols powerful in not only battle on the plains, but also against any large city with a strong wall to defend it with from then on cry in fear as they hear the name of Genghis Khan.

The Silk Road
Genghis Khan saw the Silk Road as an advantage for himself, so he gave orders to attack two important trading points in the Silk Road for the Mongols, and then encouraged the traders from both Europe and Asia to continue their business. By going as far to offer some of the traders protection, Genghis Khan made great improvements, such as in arts and artillery, for both the Eastern and Western Civilizations. If Genghis ever decided to kill on the western traders, our world today would probably be a lot more primitive.
The Arts of Mongolia
As Genghis Khan ruled, the Mongolian tribes back in Mongolia were at peace. During this time, many of the people became interested in developing a language, singing songs, making new instruments, drawing beautiful pictures on silk, and basically just trying creating a way to keep track of their history. That's how the two songs I have on my home page and main legacy page are about; they tell the history of the Mongolian Steppes.
